Getting Here :

Puerto Galera is a 3-hour bus and ferry ride from Manila. It takes around 1 ½ – 2 hours bus/ car trip from Manila to Batangas using South Luzon Express Way and Star toll, then another 1-2 hour boat ride to reach this beautiful town.

Outrigger boats and ferries to Puerto Galera usually leave Batangas Pier either every thirty minutes or every hour depending on the influx of people. But do check the schedule at the terminal counter to confirm. Also take note that ferries and outrigger boats to Puerto Galera has different destination- Muelle Port, Sabang, White Beach Balatero & Minolo Port.

If you are planning to bring your own car, the roll on roll of (RO-RO) ferry to Puerto Galera leaves Batangas port at around 12:00 o clock and departs Puerto Galera(Balatero Port) at around 5:30 p.m. daily. As this can only hold up to 10 cars, and has a first come-first serve basis policy, it is advisable to be as early as possible at the port. Another alternative is to take the Ro-Ro to Calapan City. Puerto Galera is around 50 kms from Calapan, and takes about an hour land travel.

Climate:

Tropical Climate. It is rainy season during the months of June- November, cool dry season during the months of December- February and hot dry season during the months of March to May.

Medical Care
Private and public medical and dental clinics are on hand for emergency cases. Patients with serious ailments and injuries are treated in hospitals at Batangas City, Calapan City and Manila.

Foreign Exchange Centers:
There are licensed money changers available in town. Exchange rates are reasonable and at par from the prevailing exchange rate in Manila

Banking hours starts at 9am to 3 pm. ATMs are available at Poblacion area. Major resorts are accepting credit cards.

Souvenirs
Mangyan Irayas` baskets, jars, trays and other native products are authentic Puerto Galera made. Buying one of these is a direct support for the Mangyan community as it is one of their livelihood and source of income. Puerto Galera famous shirts, sandos, caps, bags, summer dresses, beach towels, with creative designs can be bought anywhere at reasonable prices. Personalized souvenirs are also becoming hot sellers in town.
